The Under 14 Boys Footballers won the County “B” Championship in a hard fought decider in mid December. In terrible conditions the Boys overcame a very talented Terenure College team. This was a remarkable achievement given that St MacDara’s had not competed at “B” level in this age group in a number of years. A match report and pictures of the game can be found by clicking here.

The Boys achievement has capped a fantastic few years for Gaelic Football in the College. Other Recent titles and near misses include;

– First Year Boys Champions 2011

– Leinster Under 14 Girls Runners Up 2011

– Leinster Under 14 Girls Champions 2012

– Senior Boys Dublin and Leinster Champions 2012

– Under 14 Boys Runners Up 2013

– Leinster Under 16 Girls Runners Up 2014

– Dublin Senior Girls Runners Up 2014

Even more importantly, over this time participation levels of students playing Gaelic Football have also increased year on year. This academic year alone has seen nearly  150 students represented in the Colleges seven Gaelic Football (Boys and Girls) teams.

Thankfully Gaelic Football in the school for the year is not finished just yet. The Under 14 Boys team have now qualified for the Leinster Final on account of their Dublin win and the Under 16 and Under 18 Boys teams have also qualified for their respective semi finals. We also have high hopes for a very talented bunch of Under 14 and Under 16 Girls who have shown great commitment to training this year. Their competitions will resume in the next month.

We wish all teams the very best of luck going forward.
