Guideline for Students from the St Mac Dara’s PE Department

Dear students, we hope this information helps you over the next few weeks in relation to physical activity.

Now more than ever it is vital that you get some form of exercise into your daily routine. This will help in many ways – improve your mood, study better, sleep better as well as all the physical benefits.

You should be aiming to get at least 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise each day. This can be done in many different ways, the easiest of which are walking, jogging and cycling. Why not set yourself a little challenge each day to try something related to activity trust us you will feel the benefits.

Some ideas.

Couch to 5k plan – do this at your own pace, even though you might feel that it is tough the body will adapt over a period of a couple of weeks

Home circuits

Choose 10 exercises and work for 30 seconds with 10 seconds rest in between each exercise. Throw on your favourite music to help with motivation. You could gradually increase the exercise time or amount of reps during that time
