Transition Year Philosophy Talk

The Transition Year class had the privilege of attending a philosophy talk from two representatives from the University College Dublin. During this talk they discussed a hypothetical “Experience Machine” that a person could enter and it would simulate a perfect life for the rest of their existence. They also discussed fake realities, free will, predetermination, infinite regressions, existentialism, and the importance of freedom versus happiness versus truth. Very thought provoking stuff isn’t it? They were also given the opportunity to enter a project into the Irish Young Philosophers competition, at the end of which they have the opportunity to win a prize from President Higgins.
