The Geography Rocks Group will have a meeting on Thursday the 23rd November at 1pm. The Group is currently planning for a trip to the Burren in the coming months. New members are always welcome.
Parent Teacher Meetings
The 3rd Year Parent Teacher Meetings took place on the 14th November. Thank you to all the 5th year Volunteers who gave up their evening to help out with the smooth running of the event. It is really appreciated.
CSPE Action Project
The students of Class 3 Ferns will be visiting Dublin Zoo on Friday as part of their study of Stewardship for CSPE. We trust that there will be no monkeying around.
We would like to thank Dublin Zoo for their continued support of our CSPE Groups.
The Space Dome will be in the school on Thursday 16th November for all second years as part of ‘Science Week’. Students will learn all about the elements of the Solar System that are part of their Junior Cycle Course.
We will be welcoming two members from the local Terenure Station to the school on the 27th & 29th of November (rescheduled from the 13th Nov) They will be exploring the topic of Cyber Bullying with our first and second years and the topics of “Alchohol, Drugs and the Law” with our third, fifth and sixth years. We greatly appreciate them taking the time to make this visit.
Class 3 Ferns visited the Irish Jewish Museum as part of their Junior Cert Religion Project. Thank you to our hosts for an enjoyable and worthwhile day out.
Congratulations to the Gaeilge, Spanish and French Debating Teams on their success this year. It is marvelous to see our students having the confidence and ability to debate in a Language other then English. The First Year debates are continuing and we wish all participants well in the competition.
Tickets will go on sale later in the month for the college musical “Back to the 80’s”. This will take place on the 12th, 13th and 14th of December. We will have further details about ticket purchases in next weeks update. We will be asking for volunteers to help manage the massive ticket queues that we are expecting and we would ask parents not to queue overnight.
Christmas Exams will take place in the first week of December. First Year Exams will take place in the canteen with all other years doing their exams within class time. All students are encouraged to create and follow their study plan.
U18 Boys Hurling
Congratulations to the U18 Hurlers who had a comprehensive victory over Skerries in the Dublin Quarter Final last week. No date for the Semi Final has yet been set.
The Senior Camogie Team have reached the Championship Semi Final in the B Competition. The Junior A team will compete in the Shield Competition.
Congratulations to Adam Condron and Calum Byrne (both first year students) who have been selected for the Trinity College Star Programme. Both students will attend lectures in Trinity College or train with Shamrock Rovers every second Friday.
The Girls Under 16 Football Team had a great win over Lucan CC on Monday with three late goals sealing a dramatic come from behind victory. The Under 18 team is in action at home on Thursday V St Josephs Lucan @ 2:15.
The Boys Under 18 play Oatlands tomorrow (Thursday) in their first game of the competition. We wish them the very best of luck.
The Boys Under 16 Gaelic Football Team won their first game of the competition with an excellent victory over Colaiste Ciarain. Congrats to Conor Delaney, Nathan Miller, Esmund Butler and Luke Bryan who all made their first ever appearance in a GAA jersey for St MacDara’s. Esmund also scored one of the greatest points ever seen on the St Mac Dara’s pitch. We have yet to determine whether he actually meant it though.
The Boys Under 14 Gaelic Football Team have now qualified for the Championship Semi Final. This will take place over the next couple of weeks. Fixture details will be provided next week.
